Dates and Deadlines
January 1 - March 2
Submit the FAFSA for the next academic year. March 2nd is the deadline for undergraduate students to submit a FAFSA. This deadline is important to be considered for all types of aid administered by UC Santa Cruz.
California residents must also submit the GPA Verification Form to the California Student Aid Commission by March 2 if you are a new Cal Grant applicant. This form is not required to renew a Cal Grant.
April 1 - May 1
New undergraduate students admitted to fall quarter who submit a FAFSA will receive an estimated offer of financial aid. The estimate is based on data from the FAFSA. The more accurate the data on the FAFSA, the more accurate the aid estimate. It is important to read the SAR comments carefully and to take action to resolve any errors on your FAFSA. The estimated aid offer is subject to change if the information on the FAFSA is incorrect, incomplete or doesn't accurately reflect your family’s ability to contribute.
May 1
Deadline for current students to submit documents on their MyUCSC To Do List. Documents must be received in the UCSC Financial Aid and Scholarship Office by this date.(or by the date listed on the request) to be considered for all types of aid administered by UC Santa Cruz. Note: graduate students are not subject to this deadline.
June 1
Deadline for new students admitted to fall quarter to submit documents on the their MyUCSC To Do List. April 1- September 1
Students who submit a FAFSA and all items requested by the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office on their MyUCSC To Do List, will receive an e-mail when a financial an official aid offer is ready to review at my.ucsc.edu. Admitted students who accept their admission offer will receive an official aid offer after May 1st.
Late August
Fall quarter bills are posted. Students may view charges and anticipated aid. Pay any balance remaining after subtracting anticipated financial aid.
Students receiving loans for the first time must complete loan promissory notes and entrance counseling before loan funds will credit their student account. (Perkins recipients must complete the promissory note each year.) See Important Next Steps.
First Business Day of Fall Quarter
If the student's financial aid is more than their university charges, the excess will be refunded to the student. There are 2 refund methods:
- Direct deposit to a personal bank account on or about the first business day of fall quarter if direct deposit is established.
- A check will be mailed to the student's mailing address as it appears in MyUCSC. Be sure to the address is updated.
December 21
