Update on FAFSA Data Privacy and Security
The University of California is monitoring media reports about potential access within the federal government to student financial aid data as part of the transition to the new Administration. At this time, we do not have any independent confirmation that FAFSA data were improperly accessed. We understand these news reports may contribute to anxiety and concern. Know that the UC takes appropriate physical, administrative and technical measures to protect Personal Data that are consistent with applicable privacy and data security laws and regulations and University policies.
For updates and information, the UC Office of the President has published a webpage on federal policy changes. We encourage you to visit this resource as it will be updated as there is more information to share.
