Emergency Aid
Students and families can be thrown into financial crises for a number of reasons. UC Santa Cruz has numerous programs capable of providing resources to assist during these emergency situations. Campus entities may be able to provide rapid response financial assitance, food, and even emergency housing. Below are some of the available resources through our campus partners:
The Financial Aid and Scholarship Office has limited grant and scholarship funding to support financial emergencies. Funds are awarded on a first come first serve basis after careful review of the student's circumstances. Types of funds include emergency grants, advances on future aid disbursements, loans, and restricted scholarships. These funds may be awarded to both domestic and international students who demonstrate financial need based on the review of submitted documentation, including but not limited to information provided on either the FAFSA or the California Dream Application.
For many of the situations which students face, adjustments to previously reported data may be required, and for this reason the Financial Aid Office has a formal appeals process.
