Title IX
Discrimination based on gender or sex is strictly prohibited under federal and state laws and under the UC Policy on Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment. The Title IX Office will respond to reports of discrimination and harassment and can provide safety and supportive measures.
Financial aid is not prohibited to any student on the basis of sex or gender, but federal aid policies tied to Selective Service Registration do currently pose additional requirements for anyone assigned male at birth to be deemed eligible for federal financial aid funds.
This is no longer a requirement to receive federal aid effective with the 2021-2022 aid application for federal purposes, but the question will remain on the application until its removal in an upcoming year as determined by the Department of Education.
